Review: "The Uninvited DVD review"
-----------------------------------------------------------
This is a remake of the korean horror movie, A Tale of two sisters which I have not watched. But this 1 hour 27 minutes movie move around briskly so I did not feel bored. Yes, there is drama and the intensity between the two sisters. Yes, it is also Cliche' in some ways. As usual, there are some twists here and there but I fell for the final twist in the ending. I did not expect it.
DVD special features-3/5
There is one featurette (19 minutes) which basically covers the filming and the scripting of the movie. The director shares some interesting tidbits about the movie. The producers talk about changing the story. The actors/actresses talk about the experiences in the filming. Slightly interesting featurette. There are deleted scenes (4 minutes) which are worthless but worth a watch for one time. They are just the things happening offscreen. The different ending (1 minute) is just plain useless.

Review: "The Stepfather DVD review"
----------------------------------------------------------
Another remake of the original. The thing different is the hot cast in the remake. And everything probably stay the same. A stepfather who is slasher who hide in families. And blah blah...he is suspected and then he is stopped...the usual slasher movie. Except this has no blood and gore. The bloodhounds will find this boring. The kills are bloodless so I have no idea why this is rated NC-16 and more surprisingly, this was not released in cinema in singapore.
DVD special features-Rating: 3/5
There are two featurettes. The main making of (20 minutes) covers the usual; director and actors/actresses sharing their experiences in filming. The second one (8 minutes) covers the stunts in the movie like falling off from the roof of the house. The featurette somehow focuses on this particular stunt. The gag reel (5 minutes) is not particularly funny but interesting to watch.

Review: "Pandorum DVD review"
--------------------------------------------------
It is pretty intense. Two men find themselves trapped in a dark spaceship and they have to race against time to find a way to restore the ship's power. There is not much of a story. It is just like an event with some twists. That's it. The dark spaceship heightens the fear feeling.
DVD special features-Rating: 3/5
A short featurette (14 minutes) covers on the filming in the spaceship. With the director explaining some stuffs. The deleted/alternate scenes (27 minutes) are worth a watch as they provide some background knowlegde but they are useless and will only slow down the pace.

Review: "The taking of Pelham 1 2 3 DVD review"
----------------------------------------------------
It has the potential to be quite intense but somehow it is not. I am a little disappointed. But that was because I have read the book before watching the movie so i would actually ancitipate some scenes in the movie which reduce the intensity of the movie. Tony Scott's flashy camera work is a bit annoying with all the flash...this may be his movie that has the least action. But he still manages to make the movie entertaining. His latest movie is about trains too. Wow...it seems he has a liking for trains???
DVD special features-Rating: 3.4/5
The main making of (30 minutes) is long and does contain some entertainment value. The interesting feature (16 minutes) is on about the train system in New York. It gives you more information about the train system in New York. Good for those who have not been to New York. The director and producers comment on how hectic the trains are and the different rail tracks. Good featurette. Lastly, there are several trailers on this movie strung up together (7 minutes). There are other previews of other movies like Angel and Demon, Terminator Salvation etc.

Rating: 4.5/5 Review: "Man of Steel movie review" With all the hype from the trailers, I must say this is what it looks to be expected. I have to say that this is the biggest and epic superhero movie yet. This treats destructions like child's play. It is also the most explosive superhero movie. There are so much explosions that they could literally make you exhausted from watching all those. Although this is directed by Zack Snyder, this does not have much of his trademark except the visuals. His slo-mo trademark is not featured. Instead, the action is rapid fast. Man of Steel is a good entertainment with exciting action scenes and visuals but at the same, a somehow touching human drama. The story: We get an extended opening scene on Krypton where Kal-El is just born. However the planet is going to be destroyed with General Zod adding to the problem. To save Kal-El, he has to be sent to another planet known as Earth. What is interesting about the movie that it do...
Rating: 3.4/5 Review: "The Spirit of Ramayana" (103 minutes) "A passable Thai horror movie with an interesting concept but weak execution." As a low-budget horror movie, it has enough entertainment values. In the recent years, there are a few strong Thai horror movies with decent production values and there are many mediocre low-budget horror movies. The Spirit of Ramayana is somewhat in the middle. It may not look that polished but its themes and concept are intriguing enough. The story: The narrative is straight forward however its editing made the movie look messy and disjointed. It is a simple story about Mintra, a young dancer who is rejected for the main role because she cannot pull off an evil and sensual side. However, a spirit helps her to unleash her dark side. On paper, it sounds like a supernatural Black Swan. It lacks the emotional depth of Black Swan as the director seems only interested in churning out cheap scares. As the plot develops fur...
Rating: 4.3/5 Review: "Alita: Battle Angel IMAX movie review" (122 minutes) This is Robert Rodriguez's biggest movie yet and costs a staggering US$200 million. It is easy to see why. The sets are massive loaded with CGI and even many characters are CGI. Alita: Battle Angel has everything a Blockbuster has; action, romance, drama, CGI, epic music. Robert's direction is confident despite him handling a large-scale movie for the first time. As this is based on the manga, it suffers the cram condensation of a few volumes. The story: The start is surprising as it has no big opening action scene (we are used to seeing a big opening action in most Blockbuster). The sets may be big scaled but the opening feels intimate in terms of emotions. We see Dr. Dyson (Christoph Waltz) finding and rebuilding a female cyborg, Alita (Rosa Salazar). The first 20 minutes are engaging as we discover Iron City from the eyes of Alita. From then on, the pace quickens as we are introduce...
