Rating: 3.4/5 Review: "The Apparition movie review" Ashley Greene and the premise are the ones that attracted me. Ashley is no doubt hot in this and her acting is not bad. The premise, 'You believe, you die' seems interesting but unfortunately the movie didn't make full use of it. It is just touch and go. The end result is a generic but entertaining horror movie. The good: Ashley is hot. Music is surprisingly okay for a horror movie. There is a sense of dread in the music. I like that this doesn't resort to jump scenes unlike many others that are eager to make the audience jump often. Unfortunately, those are all that I enjoy or like. The bad: There are loads. Firstly, the story is seriously generic. There is not much in term of originality. It is really straight-forward with no twist. How many times have you seen a movie about a house being haunted by ghosts? The runtime is a crime. It is only 1 hour and 22 minutes long and take away the credit an
Rating: 3.3/5 Review: "The frightening night DVD review" More horror movies from China are being made. China horror movies tend to be more ambitious as they want to confuse audience. Like this, it seems like a straight-forward stalker movie but there's supernatural thrown in to confuse the audience whether it's really a supernatural or a stalker movie. And this is not the only one. Others like Mysterious Island did the same. Trailers for upcoming horror movies prove that China do want to confuse or distract audience. The story: The frightening night starts off with a sexy actress having a sense that she's being stalked by a mysterious guy. She gets a lawyer and soon takes up a role in a horror movie. And the usual, she feels the location of the shooting is mysterious and weird. Weird things happen. Blah blah. There are suspicions in the crew including the director of the movie. Pretty straight-forward until when the supernatural stuff kicks in. It is not
Rating: 3.7/5 Review: "Total Recall movie review" It is based on the original short story by Philips K. Dick and some may call it a remake of the classic movie. I have not read it nor watch it so I will base my review without any knowledge of it. Total Recall is a fast-paced action-packed action thriller. It is actually helped by its thrilling action scenes. The story is surprisingly straight-forward and seems almost there just to piece the action scenes together. But Len Wiseman, who has done great action before, crafted some extended exciting action scenes and they work and it is impossible not to take yours eyes off while watching. The story: It is actually disappointing when I thought the premise was promising. The idea of 'what's real' is promising and it could even be a mind-bending movie. Unfortunately it is not fully used in the movie. There are some scenes that used the premise but the main focus of the movie seems to be the action scenes. The sc
