Rating: 3.5/5 Review: "Heroes Reborn season1 TV review" Heroes season 1 was one of the best TV series I saw in 2006 as it was mysterious and thrilling. The novelty feeling waned as the series continued till season 4. Heroes return in 2015 in a form of new characters and story plot. Good thing is that as a mini-series of 13 episodes, it is pretty entertaining. Not so good thing is that with the high bar the first season has raised, Heroes Reborn is a little weak in fulfilling the standard. Episode 1-13: The first episode jumps into the mystery and the plot right away featuring an explosion that kills many super-powered humans known as Evos. Noah Bennet (one of the few characters who return) is racing against time to solve the mystery of what actually happened. Most episodes are entertaining enough, packing the already dense plot with subplots. But there are times where I just didn't care about the progression. The urge for time is not as threatening as it sounds l
Rating: 3.4/5 Review: "Into the Badlands season 1 TV review" It is nice seeing Daniel Wu in an English TV series. His martial arts is decent with the help of the wire unfortunately, the sparse fight scenes are one of the few positive things. The plot may be straight forward and it is not as exciting nor thrilling as it seems to be. Episode 1-6: Episode 1 has enough fight scenes to keep my attention while taking its time in introducing the characters. After a decent start, the series go downhill. Not only there is a lack of fight scenes, the series becomes an unexciting cliche action story. There are the usual slight twists here and there. Acting is passable but no one including Daniel is memorable. You hardly care about any of the characters. The sparse over-the-top and wireful fight scenes are neatly choreographed and entertaining to watch. Overall: Only worth a watch if there is nothing else on TV or if you are a Daniel Wu's fan. Martial arts' fans may fin
Rating: 3.5/5 Review: "The Treacherous the Director's cut DVD review" "The Treacherous has unlikeable main characters but its pacing and controversial scenes are able to make the film more watchable." The Treacherous has unlikeable characters who are borderline insane but director Min Kyu-dong keeps the pace brisk and avoids sappy drama. Like the title, the main characters' actions are unjustifiable and it is a little awkward when one character has a change of heart. Min Kyu-dong seems more interested in packing the film with nudity, sex and violence. There is no shortage of controversial scenes as he aims to push the boundary of the 18 rating in South Korea. Director's cut: I have seen both the director's cut and theatrical version. Surprisingly the director's cut is almost 9 minutes shorter. There isn't a lot of differences in both versions. It seems the director's cut includes a bit more sex. However the noticeable change i
Rating: 3.7/5 Review: "Arrow season 2 Blu ray review" After the major cliffhanger of season 1, season 2 slows down the pace in the few episodes. Working on the emotional recovery of characters, the episodes still have enough action with more characters introduced. Upping the game, there are more twists, action, characters. Episode 1-23: On the whole, season 2 is a mix bag. The first half is alright, the episodes are more episodic. However, the last half, the pace and thrills start to pick up as the main villain, Deathstroke, becomes a main threat to the main characters. On top of that, more revelations and deaths make you want to know more. One thing I find that is increasingly annoying is the short bursts of flashback. The flashbacks are never ending, with new twists in almost each flashback. Sometimes, they distract from the main storyline as they are getting frequent yet brief. So imagine how many times you are anticipating something from the flashbacks only then
The five Best and Worst of 2015 Best 1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens This is probably one of the surprise hit in 2015. Although the trailers showed promise, I didn't expect a lot from the new vision of J.J Abrams. It is not the best and it has some flaws. Still Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a solid entertainment from the trust-worthy J.J Abrams. 2. Mad Max: Fury Road I also wasn't expecting a lot from a film that is based on a cult franchise. However, I had a pleasant surprise that it is packed with thrilling explosive action, great cinematography, a cool music score and a thrilling cat-and-mouse plot. People are saying it is one of the best action movies ever. I wouldn't call it that but it is a pretty damn good one. 3. Avengers: Age Of Ultron It is borderline annoying as it is so over-crowded packed with superheroes and villains you heck care. Thankfully Josh Whedon is smart enough not to go over-the-top. He still neatly packaged the film with
