Review: "Into the Badlands season 1 TV review"
It is nice seeing Daniel Wu in an English TV series. His martial arts is decent with the help of the wire unfortunately, the sparse fight scenes are one of the few positive things. The plot may be straight forward and it is not as exciting nor thrilling as it seems to be.
Episode 1-6: Episode 1 has enough fight scenes to keep my attention while taking its time in introducing the characters. After a decent start, the series go downhill. Not only there is a lack of fight scenes, the series becomes an unexciting cliche action story. There are the usual slight twists here and there. Acting is passable but no one including Daniel is memorable. You hardly care about any of the characters. The sparse over-the-top and wireful fight scenes are neatly choreographed and entertaining to watch.
Overall: Only worth a watch if there is nothing else on TV or if you are a Daniel Wu's fan. Martial arts' fans may find it a bore. I thought this is a mini-series but the cliffhanger tells me otherwise. As it is becoming more cliche, I think season 2 will not be any better. And that if season 2 is given the green-light.
