Review: "The frightening night DVD review"

More horror movies from China are being made. China horror movies tend to be more ambitious as they want to confuse audience. Like this, it seems like a straight-forward stalker movie but there's supernatural thrown in to confuse the audience whether it's really a supernatural or a stalker movie. And this is not the only one. Others like Mysterious Island did the same. Trailers for upcoming horror movies prove that China do want to confuse or distract audience.

The story: The frightening night starts off with a sexy actress having a sense that she's being stalked by a mysterious guy. She gets a lawyer and soon takes up a role in a horror movie. And the usual, she feels the location of the shooting is mysterious and weird. Weird things happen. Blah blah. There are suspicions in the crew including the director of the movie. Pretty straight-forward until when the supernatural stuff kicks in. It is not an original horror movie but the brisk pace makes the movie watchable. China horror movies now are also showing some skin to spice them up. This has some sensual stuff but it is mild and there's no nudity.

Overall: It is an okay horror movie. It does not raise the bar but it proves that China can make some decent horror movies.

DVD special features: 0/5

There are 2 trailers before the DVD menu and cannot be skipped or fast-forwarded. DVD quality is surprisingly not bad. Unlike Mysterious Island, this is more sharper and clearer.

Rating: 4.5/5 Review: "Man of Steel movie review" With all the hype from the trailers, I must say this is what it looks to be expected. I have to say that this is the biggest and epic superhero movie yet. This treats destructions like child's play. It is also the most explosive superhero movie. There are so much explosions that they could literally make you exhausted from watching all those. Although this is directed by Zack Snyder, this does not have much of his trademark except the visuals. His slo-mo trademark is not featured. Instead, the action is rapid fast. Man of Steel is a good entertainment with exciting action scenes and visuals but at the same, a somehow touching human drama. The story: We get an extended opening scene on Krypton where Kal-El is just born. However the planet is going to be destroyed with General Zod adding to the problem. To save Kal-El, he has to be sent to another planet known as Earth. What is interesting about the movie that it do...
Rating: 3.5/5 Review: Taken DVD review Taken is a new action movie that makes the audiences want more hard and gritty action flicks. I can see that now. Taken has the drama (Yawn!) and the realistic action (Like the Borne movies). Clocking at only 1 and a half hour, the movie starts off slow with drama. After half and hour pass, it goes straight to the intensity and non-stop realistic action. I don't like the slow start. As it is only 1 and a half hour, it do not have the time for slow characters' development. It should drive straight to the action, unless it clocks around 2 hours. The story: It seems to be the usual kidnapping movies where the bad guys kidnap some random girl/boy and ask for ransom. But in this, they kidnap young women to become sex-slaves. A father of a kidnapped daughter is enraged and goes to Paris where his daughter is. "I will find you! I will kill you!" He says to the bad guys. He starts punching and kicking people to hell. He kicks men's b...
Rating: 3.5/5 Review: "From Vegas To Macau 2 movie review" "Loads of fun in Wong Jing's bigger sequel." Wong Jing is back with more madness, action, explosion and a longer runtime. As every sequel tries to top its original in every way, From Vegas To Macau 2 is no different. Lots of explosion, lots of wacky humour and more CGI, if these are your entertainment, the movie will do you no wrong. From the opening gun fight to the CGI climax, the story is kept brisk to keep your attention in check. The story: Chow Yun-fat is back as the titular gambler, Ken, with the magic hand. This time, the movie exaggerates his skills with CGI poker cards until it almost becomes a fantasy. But that's to be expected in a Wong Jing's movie. This time, the location is shifted to Thailand where Mark (Nick Cheung), an accountant in a money-laundering syndicate, DOA, is chased by Interpol and DOA. Ken has to save him and help his protege, Vincent (Shawn Yue). Wong Ji...
