Review: "Snow White and the Huntsman movie review"

I have to admit that though the movie has some pacing problems, the whole movie is visually interesting. So there was not really a boring part because visuals are there to enchant every scene. The director, Rupert Sanders, is a first-timer but it is impressive that he has a great eye on visuals. He could be easily compared to Tarsem, another director who directs beautiful visually movies like Immortals. If this hits the jackpot at the Box Office, I'm sure we will see more of Rupert's works on the big screen.

The story: It is pretty much a twist on the Snow White tale and it is based more on the Grimm Brothers' story. So you can expect it to be pretty dark and grim. The movie starts off with the introduction of a young Snow White and the Queen played by a menacing Charlize Theron. The pace starts to move briskly with an older Snow White escaping from the Queen's cell. And the adventure starts. It is not a bad adventure. The adventure at times can be dark that you almost didn't realised that you are watching a fantasy movie. But the middle part of the movie will confirm that the movie is indeed in a fantasy world. Action wise is okay. There are a lot of realistic fist-to-to fist fight and chase scenes but very few action scenes involved fantasy which is a disappointment. I think Rupert is fond of creating an action scene out of nowhere and to surprise you. The startling action scene is often started by a thud of an arrow. The climax is short but still alright. Acting wise is okay too. Charlize is menacing, Kristen and Chris are just alright. Music is as good as expected from James Newton Howard.

Overall: It is definitely an interesting movie to look at. It definitely has the visuals to draw you in. The story is also an interesting twist to Snow White. It is nice to get a dark Snow White movie opposed to Tarsem's comical Mirror Mirror. It should be worth to catch it in cinema just for its fantastic visuals.

Rating: 4.5/5 Review: "Man of Steel movie review" With all the hype from the trailers, I must say this is what it looks to be expected. I have to say that this is the biggest and epic superhero movie yet. This treats destructions like child's play. It is also the most explosive superhero movie. There are so much explosions that they could literally make you exhausted from watching all those. Although this is directed by Zack Snyder, this does not have much of his trademark except the visuals. His slo-mo trademark is not featured. Instead, the action is rapid fast. Man of Steel is a good entertainment with exciting action scenes and visuals but at the same, a somehow touching human drama. The story: We get an extended opening scene on Krypton where Kal-El is just born. However the planet is going to be destroyed with General Zod adding to the problem. To save Kal-El, he has to be sent to another planet known as Earth. What is interesting about the movie that it do...
Rating: 3.5/5 Review: Taken DVD review Taken is a new action movie that makes the audiences want more hard and gritty action flicks. I can see that now. Taken has the drama (Yawn!) and the realistic action (Like the Borne movies). Clocking at only 1 and a half hour, the movie starts off slow with drama. After half and hour pass, it goes straight to the intensity and non-stop realistic action. I don't like the slow start. As it is only 1 and a half hour, it do not have the time for slow characters' development. It should drive straight to the action, unless it clocks around 2 hours. The story: It seems to be the usual kidnapping movies where the bad guys kidnap some random girl/boy and ask for ransom. But in this, they kidnap young women to become sex-slaves. A father of a kidnapped daughter is enraged and goes to Paris where his daughter is. "I will find you! I will kill you!" He says to the bad guys. He starts punching and kicking people to hell. He kicks men's b...
Rating: 3.5/5 Review: "From Vegas To Macau 2 movie review" "Loads of fun in Wong Jing's bigger sequel." Wong Jing is back with more madness, action, explosion and a longer runtime. As every sequel tries to top its original in every way, From Vegas To Macau 2 is no different. Lots of explosion, lots of wacky humour and more CGI, if these are your entertainment, the movie will do you no wrong. From the opening gun fight to the CGI climax, the story is kept brisk to keep your attention in check. The story: Chow Yun-fat is back as the titular gambler, Ken, with the magic hand. This time, the movie exaggerates his skills with CGI poker cards until it almost becomes a fantasy. But that's to be expected in a Wong Jing's movie. This time, the location is shifted to Thailand where Mark (Nick Cheung), an accountant in a money-laundering syndicate, DOA, is chased by Interpol and DOA. Ken has to save him and help his protege, Vincent (Shawn Yue). Wong Ji...
