Review: "Jack the giant slayer 3D movie review"

Bryan Singer's latest movie is a big budget adventure movie filled with CGI. To be honest, I am not a Bryan Singer fan. He did directed some entertaining movies like the X-men to okay movies like Valkyrie. However he does not impress me especially in terms of action. The way he crafted his action scenes is not very inspiring and exciting. Jack the giant slayer has lots of mayhem but for action wise, it needs to be more engaging.

The story: It is based on the fairy tale; Jack and the beanstalk. Bryan just amps up the action and thrills in this movie. The pace moves briskly. The first act is about Jack gaining the beans and one of it eventually grows into a beanstalk. However, the princess goes along with the growth of the beanstalk. The second act is basically Jack saving the princess in a world of giants. Surprisingly there is a huge body count for a family fantasy movie. The movie finally moves onto the third act which sees the battle between humans and giants. That is where mayhem is at its full glory. Lots of things get smashed. It is probably Bryan's biggest movie yet. Acting wise is fine. The CGI of the giants is good. Music by John Ottman is fine but somehow sounds like a generic epic movie soundtrack.

3D: It is okay but it is disappointing in a way that it does not fully maximise its effects. I thought the 3D effects should be cool as it has the potential of creating a contrast between humans and giants. However, it didn't. There are some shots that look good. Other than that, it is okay as it still has the depth and that's all it has achieved.

Overall: It is a brisk-paced adventure movie with thrills and mayhem. It is Bryan's biggest movie yet in terms of adventure and spectacle. People who can't get enough of seeing fairy tales getting the Hollywood treatment will get a kick watching this. Jack the giant slayer may not bring anything new to the table but it has enough entertainment to sit back and enjoy.

Rating: 4.5/5 Review: "Man of Steel movie review" With all the hype from the trailers, I must say this is what it looks to be expected. I have to say that this is the biggest and epic superhero movie yet. This treats destructions like child's play. It is also the most explosive superhero movie. There are so much explosions that they could literally make you exhausted from watching all those. Although this is directed by Zack Snyder, this does not have much of his trademark except the visuals. His slo-mo trademark is not featured. Instead, the action is rapid fast. Man of Steel is a good entertainment with exciting action scenes and visuals but at the same, a somehow touching human drama. The story: We get an extended opening scene on Krypton where Kal-El is just born. However the planet is going to be destroyed with General Zod adding to the problem. To save Kal-El, he has to be sent to another planet known as Earth. What is interesting about the movie that it do...
Rating: 3.5/5 Review: Taken DVD review Taken is a new action movie that makes the audiences want more hard and gritty action flicks. I can see that now. Taken has the drama (Yawn!) and the realistic action (Like the Borne movies). Clocking at only 1 and a half hour, the movie starts off slow with drama. After half and hour pass, it goes straight to the intensity and non-stop realistic action. I don't like the slow start. As it is only 1 and a half hour, it do not have the time for slow characters' development. It should drive straight to the action, unless it clocks around 2 hours. The story: It seems to be the usual kidnapping movies where the bad guys kidnap some random girl/boy and ask for ransom. But in this, they kidnap young women to become sex-slaves. A father of a kidnapped daughter is enraged and goes to Paris where his daughter is. "I will find you! I will kill you!" He says to the bad guys. He starts punching and kicking people to hell. He kicks men's b...
Rating: 3.5/5 Review: "From Vegas To Macau 2 movie review" "Loads of fun in Wong Jing's bigger sequel." Wong Jing is back with more madness, action, explosion and a longer runtime. As every sequel tries to top its original in every way, From Vegas To Macau 2 is no different. Lots of explosion, lots of wacky humour and more CGI, if these are your entertainment, the movie will do you no wrong. From the opening gun fight to the CGI climax, the story is kept brisk to keep your attention in check. The story: Chow Yun-fat is back as the titular gambler, Ken, with the magic hand. This time, the movie exaggerates his skills with CGI poker cards until it almost becomes a fantasy. But that's to be expected in a Wong Jing's movie. This time, the location is shifted to Thailand where Mark (Nick Cheung), an accountant in a money-laundering syndicate, DOA, is chased by Interpol and DOA. Ken has to save him and help his protege, Vincent (Shawn Yue). Wong Ji...
