Rating: 3.5/5 Review: "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Harry Potter is now more onto the teenage drama, the first few movies are on the fantasy side. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood prince's pace is not as fast as the recent Harry Potter movies as it is more like a drama. The characters do not do much action, just babble and kiss. I have not read the book so I do not know whether the movie is following according to the book's pace. Though it is heavy on drama, I still enjoyed it. The story: Yeah, it is darker as the three characters grow into adults, dealing with some adults situations. Although, it has a PG rating in USA, it is quite dark. Everything is dark. Even the clouds are dark in mostly throughout the whole movie. I must say it is the darkest PG movie. Aside from that, action fans should already know that Harry Potter does not feature big and loud action sets. So if you walk in and expect to see big magical action sets, you will be disappointed. There
Rating: 3.5/5 TV Review: "Harper's Island Review" (13 episodes) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have finally finished watching the whole series, the 13 episodes. The story is simple. Even the tagline will tell basically you about the plot outline. 25 people are invited to a wedding. From there, people start dieing. One by one. At least one will die in an episode. Come to the final episode, the killer will be revealed. It is pretty engrossing as it is intense, I would want to know who will die and who the killer is. In the middle of the story, there seems to be some kind of lame supernatural stuffs like things that magically appear and supernatural forces. I thought: 'What the hell! I don't watch this show for supernatural shit. I would rather go watch some cheesy horror movies.' Glad I was wrong. The killer is a human. But they didn't explain how those supernatural things come about. It is not
Rating: 4/5 Review: "20th Century Boys 2" It is a sequel to the first one and this is not a sequel that stands alone, you need to watch part one in order to understand the characters. It is quite a good sequel following up. The pace is fast and intense. With the third movie as a conclusion, the characters race against time to stop Friend's plot to destroy mankind and unravel his identity. I can't say which one I like best as both of the movies have their own plot. I enjoyed both of them and cannot wait for part 3. The story: It starts off where part one ends. Kanna is a grown-up teenager in 2015. Friend is still planning on destroying mankind and has made almost everyone respect him as god. Kanna races to fight off Friend' evil plot and finds dark secrets. I can't spoil much as there are quite a lot of twists. With an expensive budget, you can see some huge realistic sets never feature in Japanese movies. Part one has the expensive sets. Part two, the sets a
Rating: 4/5 Review; "20th Century Boys DVD review" First of all-I have not read the manga but I have heard the title before. I will base my review with nothing to do with my knowledge of the manga. Making live-action movies based on manga and comics seems to be a trend in japan. Blockbuster live-action movies like Death Note are good. So hopefully, there will be more good adaptation of manga. I say that 20th Century Boys shall be one of the good adaptation and Japanese movie. This live-action movie broke death note box office in japan. That made me more interested of how this movie will fare. I must say it is worth the hype. It is pretty intense and epic to my sayings. The story: It revolves around Kenji and his pals. They built a hideout and shared stories and stuffs. They made a story. When they grow up, the story they made up becomes true. A mysterious cult-leader called friend enters the world and wants to destroy the world. Kenji and his pal save the world. Not so easy.
Rating: 3.5/5 Review: Taken DVD review Taken is a new action movie that makes the audiences want more hard and gritty action flicks. I can see that now. Taken has the drama (Yawn!) and the realistic action (Like the Borne movies). Clocking at only 1 and a half hour, the movie starts off slow with drama. After half and hour pass, it goes straight to the intensity and non-stop realistic action. I don't like the slow start. As it is only 1 and a half hour, it do not have the time for slow characters' development. It should drive straight to the action, unless it clocks around 2 hours. The story: It seems to be the usual kidnapping movies where the bad guys kidnap some random girl/boy and ask for ransom. But in this, they kidnap young women to become sex-slaves. A father of a kidnapped daughter is enraged and goes to Paris where his daughter is. "I will find you! I will kill you!" He says to the bad guys. He starts punching and kicking people to hell. He kicks men's b
