Rating: 3.8/5 Review: "G.I Joe: Retaliation movie review" G.I Joe: Rise of Cobra is loud, big and cartoony whereas the sequel is more darker and gritter and the action is more grounded. The tone is different in some sense but both are enjoyable. This time, Jon Chu helm the lower-budget action movie and he did a decent job. The story: It is as straight-forward as the first one but what this does better is the thrills. Yes, Rise of Cobra contains big explosive action set pieces but there is no sense of real threat as they seem cartoonish. Retaliation's action is more grounded so it is more tense. There are some action scenes worth noting such as the thrilling fight scene on the mountain. Not to worry, this is also as action-packed as the first one. Acting wise is okay for an action movie. Music is okay but not as good as the first one. Overall: I would have to say I enjoyed this more than the first due to its tense action. People who enjoyed Rise of Cobra becaus
Rating: 3.5/5 Review: "Kamen Rider Fourze the movie DVD review" The first Kamen Rider DVD I got from Japan. The movie is not bad, it is a little too short. It runs a little more than an hour. However that is, it is action-packed from the start. There are many action scenes which rely on heavy stunt work and mediocre CGI. I was entertained by its energy and fast-paced action. This has improved the action of Kamen Rider. DVD special features-3.5/5 The collector's pack which is expensive has 3 discs. The first disc is obviously the movie and some trailers. The second disc is the extensive making of (1 hour and 9 minutes). There are behind the scenes of different scenes and they are fun to watch. The third disc features premieres (43 minutes), music video (3 minutes) and more trailers plus a miserable poster gallery and characters' bio. The third disc is kind of redundant for me as I got bored watching the premieres. Basically, the 3-disc edition is okay with t
Rating: 3.6/5 Review: "Oz the great and powerful movie review" Sam Raimi's latest movie is as usual as his other movies; colourful and entertaining. This looks a bit like his Spider-Man movies. It has some thrilling action, looks good and has loads of CGI. It is purely an entertaining adventure but I have to say that the runtime is a little too long. It could be trimmed to about 2 hours. With the mild problem of the runtime, this manages to still be a massively entertaining movie because of its light humour and brisk pace. The story: The first 15-20 minutes are black and white and it is intentional. James Franco plays Oscar, a selfish magician in a circus. His morals are not very good and his character is not very likable. Once he gets into the magical Oz, the picture becomes vibrant and full with brimming colours. He meets a witch, Theodora (Mila Kunis) who thinks he is the real wizard who can save Oz from the wicked witch. He then meets a flying monkey, Finley
Rating: 3.6/5 Review: "Jack the giant slayer 3D movie review" Bryan Singer's latest movie is a big budget adventure movie filled with CGI. To be honest, I am not a Bryan Singer fan. He did directed some entertaining movies like the X-men to okay movies like Valkyrie. However he does not impress me especially in terms of action. The way he crafted his action scenes is not very inspiring and exciting. Jack the giant slayer has lots of mayhem but for action wise, it needs to be more engaging. The story: It is based on the fairy tale; Jack and the beanstalk. Bryan just amps up the action and thrills in this movie. The pace moves briskly. The first act is about Jack gaining the beans and one of it eventually grows into a beanstalk. However, the princess goes along with the growth of the beanstalk. The second act is basically Jack saving the princess in a world of giants. Surprisingly there is a huge body count for a family fantasy movie. The movie finally moves onto t
