Review: "Scream the TV series season 1 review"

After four films, MTV felt it wanted to bring the younger generation a updated version of Scream. The TV series clearly fits the demographic with its young attractive cast, technology and updated film references. Is it as good as the film franchise? I would say close, for the younger audience. It retains some of the things the franchise is famous for. The update of the Ghostface's mask somehow works in the series.

Episode 1-10: The first episode starts like all the other films: a kill. Bella Thorne, looking as attractive as she can in a bikini, is the first kill and it is no spoiler. After the first episode, I began to wonder if it would adopt to some of the whodunit TV series where a character is killed in every episode (Harper's Island for an instance). Unfortunately, it is not. But it becomes a good thing as there is anticipation of who will die next. The main characters are developed into almost like a regular cast for the following seasons. No spoilers here but characters do die. Episode 4-7 slow down a little where the background stories are revealed. Episode 8 picks up the speed. The final reveal of the killer in episode 10 is not as satisfying as I thought it would be but it is a serviceable reveal for the franchise.

Overall: MTV updates the Scream franchise for the younger audience and it is not a bad thing. MTV is smart enough to keep the tension and blood without going over-the-top. Being part of the younger generation, I was engaged with its suspense and plot twists although the references to modern films is kind of overkill. Fans of the franchise may be annoyed by the immature characterisation of the young cast so I can't say if fans will really enjoy this one. Those new to the Scream would probably enjoy it more. Although one chapter is wrapped up, it is promised to return with more secrets.

Rating: 3.4/5 Review: "The Spirit of Ramayana" (103 minutes) "A passable Thai horror movie with an interesting concept but weak execution." As a low-budget horror movie, it has enough entertainment values. In the recent years, there are a few strong Thai horror movies with decent production values and there are many mediocre low-budget horror movies. The Spirit of Ramayana is somewhat in the middle. It may not look that polished but its themes and concept are intriguing enough. The story: The narrative is straight forward however its editing made the movie look messy and disjointed. It is a simple story about Mintra, a young dancer who is rejected for the main role because she cannot pull off an evil and sensual side. However, a spirit helps her to unleash her dark side. On paper, it sounds like a supernatural Black Swan. It lacks the emotional depth of Black Swan as the director seems only interested in churning out cheap scares. As the plot develops fur...
Best and Worst movies of 2011 2011 is over! It sees many good movies so it was kind of tricky to list the best 4 movies of 2011. It had been a good year for movies. Let's see if 2012 is any better. 1.Transformers: Dark of the Moon Rating: 4.5/5 It is one of the best 3D movie ever. It has cool action, great 3D and robots. It may be the final Transformers for Michael Bay. Only thing that can be improved is that rushed out ending. Other than that, it could be 2011 best action movie. 2.Sucker Punch Rating: 4.5/5 It is sad to see the critics slamming this movie. I find its presentation kind of cool and unique. The action is not bad too. Zack Synder really has a sense of cool visual which the movie a more interesting view. 3.Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Rating: 4.5/5 The end is finally here. Although it is the most action-packed movie in the franchise, I can't help but feel a little disappointed with the climax. I wanted a longer and more epic battle between Harry and Voldemo...
Rating: 3.9/5 Review: "Iron Man 2 DVD review" Well, for me, it is kind of disappointing. Seeing the lack of action and three short action scenes disappoints me as this movie has been reported to have a higher budget than the first one. Another thing disappointing is the pace. The pace in the first Iron Man movie is intense, it is filled with intense moments and quirky humour. This one's pace is slower with all the melodrama of Tony trying to live his "broken" life as he thinks he will soon die. And he starts being an ass, some drunk ass, and blah blah.... The story: The first third of the movie is not bad, still holding up some interesting moments like the villian, Ivan in a car race scene. The second third is where the story slows down, luckily it is bearable, when Tony behaves like an ass, drinking and dancing like some nut monkey. Then there is an action scene with Tony and his best friend in armour. The last third is the climax between Tony and Ivan which is...
