Review: "John Carter movie review"

Unfortunately, I didn't catch it in 3D. I wasn't sure of how the post-conversion would turn out. Back to the movie. To tell the truth, before John Carter opened, I was not sure if I should give the movie a try. The posters are boring and uninspired and trailers are not really exciting. It was only the week that it opened that I decided to catch it in cinema. I am glad that it is actually a fun and entertaining movie that is worth to watch in cinema.

The story: It does pack a lot during the 132 minutes runtime. And it does feel slightly bloated. But it is still fun entertainment. The movie starts with a short action scene on Mars and moves on to John Carter on the human world. Then the next 20-25 minutes show John on Earth. So Sci-Fi will have to wait a while to see John on Mars. The story is simple to understand but the number of characters may confuse. It is sort of a chase movie. The action scenes while short are many and some like the climax are thrilling. It is kind of violent for a Disney movie. Music is good. Acting is okay. One of the few problems the movie had is that it is overlong. The director could cut it down to about 2 hours. It could have been better if less things are packed in. There are loads of characters too.

Overall: It is a fun Disney movie, something like Prince of Persia. It is fun and entertaining but not great due to its bloated runtime and pacing problems. I can't believe Disney would churn out a heavy US$250 million budget and hopefully it would at least do better than Prince of Persia which was a disappointment. It may not look interesting but when you watch it, you will realise that it is actually a fun movie.

Best and Worst movies of 2011 2011 is over! It sees many good movies so it was kind of tricky to list the best 4 movies of 2011. It had been a good year for movies. Let's see if 2012 is any better. 1.Transformers: Dark of the Moon Rating: 4.5/5 It is one of the best 3D movie ever. It has cool action, great 3D and robots. It may be the final Transformers for Michael Bay. Only thing that can be improved is that rushed out ending. Rating: 3.9/5 Review: "Iron Man 2 DVD review" Well, for me, it is kind of disappointing. Seeing the lack of action and three short action scenes disappoints me as this movie has been reported to have a higher budget than the first one. Another thing disappointing is the pace. The pace in the first Iron Man movie is intense, it is filled with intense moments and quirky humour. This one's pace is slower with all the melodrama of Tony trying to live his "broken" life as he thinks he will soon die. And he starts being an ass, some drunk ass, and blah blah....
